Integrated Partnership for Regional Emergency Management in Metro Vancouver

About Us

‚ÄčIPREM is an intergovernmental partnership between the Province of British Columbia and Metro Vancouver (on behalf of the 23 local authorities). IPREM was formed to coordinate regional emergency management planning activities.

IPREM is designed to collaboratively engage all levels of government and private sector agencies in regional emergency planning initiatives for Metro Vancouver.


Vision:

A disaster-resilient region where all levels of government and key stakeholders work together seamlessly.

Mission Statement:

To develop and deliver a coordinated seamless regional emergency management strategy supported by an integrated concept of operations and strategic priorities.

IPREM efforts focus on the Preparedness Phase of emergency management, including:

  • Assess the state of regional emergency management systems and capabilities within Metro Vancouver
  • Establish benchmarks, make recommendations and identify best practices for improvements to regional emergency management
  • Develop harmonized emergency management concepts, platforms and priorities
  • Facilitate communication between partners
  • Leverage opportunities and provide oversight on integrated projects
  • Pilot initiatives with public and private sector groups
  • Systematically identify and propose options to resolve complex issues
  • Define regional priorities leading to solutions in the short and longer term
  • Empower partners to achieve success through co-operation, education and training
  • Share best practices and experience with emergency management groups outside of the region
